Description of Show :

Please include discussion of any of the following points that apply to your show: background ideas, philosophy, presentation and format, central ideas or issues, general content, musical style/genre, areas of personal interest or anything else that will be important to your programming.

My show centers around complex philosophical issues, such as: “If a chipmunk at Algonquin Park is willing to eat food out of your mouth, is it ethical considering the park has rules against feeding animals, despite the fact that it makes such a cute picture?” Music-wise, I play a large selection of new metal/rock and some older stuff, the grade seven hits that make everyone go “Awwwww.”

Audience:

Please describe the audience you wish to reach, and your plans to build and interact with this audience throughout the course of your position with Radio Laurier.

I plan to reach out to the hearts and minds of Laurier’s student body, touching them in appropriate ways as they make their way through their hellish days of class. How am I going to do this? By playing music.

Resources:

What resources will you use to ensure your show is both interesting and relevant to your audience? How will you prepare for your show each week?

I prepare for my show with intense meditation sessions every Tuesday morning. I also scan through the day’s news (primarily the weird stuff that appears on page 24 of the newspapers) for amusing short tidbits to bring up during my show. I also order my weekly co-host to come to the show with a bevy of knowledge and/or pertinent plugs that they wish to convey across the airwaves.

What experience or interests do you possess that will aid you in planning and executing your show? In what way will these influence your show?

I like music and I like to talk. A lot.

I have a different co-host every week, each one supplying a unique perspective on life and musical taste. Therefore my show is always fresh, since it blends different elements with my own on a weekly basis.

Coheed and Cambria, The Notwist, The Offspring, Green Day, 36 Crazyfists, In Flames, The Postal Service, Death Cab for Cutie, Prodigy, Boards of Canada, Taking Back Sunday, Tragically Hip, Deftones, Avenged Sevenfold, Modest Mouse, Jets to Brazil, Pretty Girls Make Graves, Sahara Hotnights, Propagandhi, The Wrens… all kinds of stuff!

I wrote this in a grand total of five minutes. Most of it is B.S., as you can see.
